Six Steps of Career Self-Management

To assist students to achieve their goals a range of activities, programs and other opportunities exist and complement the vocational-based counselling conducted by Avila’s careers advisers.

6 stepsAlternate pathways are offered to students who require them during Years 7 to 10, under the guidance of the Learning Support Coordinator or the Gifted and Talented Coordinator. In Years 10, 11 and 12 VCE,VET and VCAL pathways are available.

Examples of current pathways and career activities, programs and opportunities include:

  • Year 7 and 9 camp experiences
  • Year 8 city experience
  • VTAC information sessions
  • Subject selection counseling
  • Careers days
  • A dedicated Careers Hub for student use
  • Course Search sessions
  • Work experience
  • Vocational interests assessments
  • Individual careers counselling sessions
  • Parent information evenings
  • Liaison with VTAC, Universities TAFEs and private providers
  • Career events.

We also advise students about university and industry events and distribute government, industry and institute publications.
