College Crest

Avila College’s crest is very much a part of the history of the College and it continues to be relevant today and a source of inspiration.

The crest features the Latin words 'Ecclesiae Filia' which means 'Daughter of the Church'; a cross representing the love and a quill, being the symbol of learning.

Sister Bernadine of the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy designed the crest. Father Vincent Creed, who was Parish Priest of St Mary Magdalen’s of Jordanville, one of Avila’s founding parishes, was instrumental in having Sister Bernadine design the crest. He described the crest as ‘simple, yet so meaningful’.
