Do You Have A Question?

The Avila College General Office staff have put together a list of FAQ’s that may just provide the answer you are looking for.

Q. How do I notify the school that a student will be absent?

A. In the case of a student absence please use the SIMON Everywhere app and submit an absent notice. Alternatively ring the Absentee Line on 9831 9696. Please leave a clear message stating the student name, Homeroom, reason for absence and date of absence.

Q. What if a student is late to school?

A. Please notify the school of any late arrivals via the SIMON Everywhere app.  Your daughter must sign in at the general office upon her arrival to school.  Alternatively a message can be left on the Student Absentee Line (9831 9696) clearly stating your daughter’s name, homeroom and expected time of arrival.  If  your daughter arrives late to school without parent notification her Year Level Coordinator will be notified.

Q. My daughter needs to leave school early? What do I do now?

A. All early leave requests must be in writing. Please enter the early departure via the SIMON Everywhere app. If your daughter is unaware that she needs to leave early please also call the General Office on 9831 9600. Your daughter will then be able to sign out at the office at the nominated time prior to leaving the College. Please note that early leave requests cannot be left as messages on the Student Absentee Line.

Q. Is my daughter permitted to use her mobile phone at school?

A. Students are permitted to use a personal mobile device (PMD) only under the direction and permission of staff. Students are asked to leave their phones in their lockers during the day. It is important that students spend lunchtimes and recess building relationships with their peers. Students should not be making personal phone calls/texts whilst at school.

Q. What are the policies regarding phones?

  • Phones should be left in lockers during the day.
  • Students are not to phone home during the day.
  • Students are not permitted to take photos of other students at school.
  • It is against school policy to post images with school uniform/logo on social media platforms.

Q. Why do I keep receiving Operoo reminders?

You have received an invitation for your daughter to go on an excursion or details regarding an event. Please go online and accept the invitation you have received.

Q. I’m looking for answers regarding student behaviour, dress code or lockers?

Please go to PAM and click on the relevant policy under School Links/Student Policies.

Q. How does the Health Centre work?

If a student is feeling unwell at school, she must present at the Health Centre where she will be assessed. If required, an emergency contact will be called by phone.

Q. My daughter has contacted me to say she is unwell and needs to be collected from school. What do I do now?

All students are requested not to contact parents directly. If unwell, they must present to the Health Centre. If your daughter has called you instead, please ask her to attend the Health Centre. If required, the nurse will then contact you.
